Romans 12:2 (CSB)

I’m Jeff McCarty, a husband, dad, pop, nurse, educator, and Bible teacher who’s been preaching the Gospel since 1995. I grew up in southern Indiana near the little town of Palmyra, where I first met Jesus and was baptized at ten years old. My faith was shaped by a family of second-generation believers and by some good friends over the years, who taught me what it meant to love and serve Christ in everyday life.
That early encounter with Jesus turned into a lifelong calling. What began as a nervous high schooler’s first sermon in a country Methodist church became nearly three decades of preaching and teaching the Word — always with a heart for grace, truth, and real-life transformation. I’ve been an ordained minister since 2000 and currently serve through the Evangelical Association of Reformed and Congregational Christian Churches.
Today, my wife Michele and I lead a simple house church in Bullitt County, Kentucky — a small, Spirit-led community of friends and fellow travelers who love Jesus and one another deeply. Alongside ministry, I’ve served as a nurse and educator since 2008, helping others find healing in both body and soul.
Through Mind & Soul: Faith, I continue the same mission that’s guided me all these years — to help people heal from religion, rediscover Jesus, and live whole again. My passion is to teach the Bible clearly, walk with people honestly, and point weary hearts back to the grace of Christ that never runs dry.

Centered on the Good News of Jesus
Everything I do in ministry flows from one simple truth: the Good News of Jesus Christ is the hope you and I desperately need. My calling is to share that Gospel clearly, teach the Bible faithfully, and train others to do the same.
My Ministry Philosophy
Acts 2:42:
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
My vision for Mind & Soul is simple and Gospel-centered

With decades of pastoral and teaching experience, I walk with leaders and congregations who long to return to the simplicity and power of the Good News. Whether it’s equipping leaders or providing guidance in revitalizing a struggling fellowship, my approach is both biblical and practical.

For nearly 30 years, I’ve preached and taught in churches, conferences, retreats, and small gatherings — always with one goal: to make God’s Word clear, practical, and centered on the grace of Christ.
I teach expositionally — drawing truth straight from Scripture — in an engaging style that connects the Bible’s ancient truth with real life today. Whether it’s a Sunday service, revival, or weekend retreat, my aim is simple: to help people hear the Gospel, see Jesus more clearly, and walk away encouraged, not exhausted.

Through sermons, podcasts, and Bible videos for kids, I share the hope of Jesus in ways that reach every age and season of life. Each message — whether it’s a Sunday sermon, a podcast conversation, or a “Lucas & Goose” Bible story — is crafted to teach God’s Word with clarity, warmth, and joy.
From thoughtful discussions on faith and culture to creative lessons that help children fall in love with Scripture, my goal is simple: to make the truth of Jesus accessible, engaging, and real for everyone.

My writing is honest, Scripture-rooted, and shaped by real life. I write to help people wrestle with faith, find healing from spiritual wounds, and rediscover grace in the everyday. Each article blends biblical truth with personal reflection — less about polished theology, more about walking with Jesus in the mess and mercy of real life.
Whether unpacking a passage of Scripture or exploring what it means to follow Christ through pain, doubt, or joy, my goal is always the same: to help readers see that grace still works — and it’s still enough.

My wife Michele and I lead a simple, Spirit-led house church in Bullitt County, Kentucky — a close community of believers who gather around Scripture, prayer, and shared life. We believe the church is at its best when it feels like family and when grace, not performance, defines our fellowship.
Our vision is to see more of these small, authentic gatherings take root. This is why I also train and release other house church leaders, helping ordinary believers learn to shepherd others with humility, biblical grounding, and a heart for grace.
